Ask a question about Mabel before you buy. We answer within a business day.

The pink gills on a white body are the clearest health indicator of any morph. Full and forward is what you want to see.

Mabel is a lightly speckled leucistic white axolotl with an even scatter of markings across the whole body. Rather than clustering behind the head, the speckling on this one runs all the way down the back and onto the tail fin, giving a more consistent dappled look. The gills are a deep red and the body is a warm cream rather than a cool white.

Fusses about for a minute after a water change then settles straight back down. Strong feeding response, good width through the body, and no hesitation at the tongs. Nothing leaves here without all three.

There is no second Mabel. Each animal is photographed and listed once. Goes out early in the week and arrives overnight in Sydney. For what the whole setup costs on top, read axolotl prices in Australia.

Questions about Mabel

How big will Mabel get?

Mabel is 10 cm now and should finish between 18 and 25 cm. We do not list below this size. Under it the losses in transit stop being acceptable, whatever the packing.

Can Mabel live with another axolotl?

Not yet. At 10 cm Mabel would come off worse against anything larger, and axolotls nip gills and limbs when mismatched.

Is Mabel still available?

Mabel is available as of today. Leucistics show their condition plainly, so gills and body shape tell you immediately how the animal is doing.

Questions about Mabel before you buy?

Questions about Mabel specifically, or about getting a tank ready? Either is fine.
