The colour on a copper is not finished at this size. Twelve months from now the tone will be deeper and the speckling more defined.

Nugget is an axanthic copper axolotl with soft caramel colouring and a lot of personality for the size. The body is a light warm tan with subtle darker mottling along the spine, and the gills carry that dusty rose tone that coppers do so well. Colour on this morph deepens with age, so the contrast between the freckling and the base tends to sharpen over the first year.

Active through the evening and quick to investigate anything new in the tank. Comes straight out for food and takes pellets and worm without fuss. That appetite is the single best sign of a healthy animal.
