Ask a question about Dusty before you buy. We answer within a business day.
Dusty is a lightly speckled leucistic white axolotl whose speckling sits mostly across the shoulders. Clean white body, strong red gills, and a defined band of fine dark flecks behind the head that thins out toward the tail. Leucistic speckling generally increases with age, so expect this pattern to fill in a little over the first year.
Even tempered and an easy feeder. A straightforward animal to settle in. Takes food from tongs and off the substrate equally happily, which makes it easy to feed however you prefer to do it.
Dusty is one animal, not a stock line. When it sells, the listing goes with it. Travels to Adelaide packed with oxygen and a cool pack, and arrives overnight to one business day. Our axolotl price guide explains why the morphs sit where they do.
Questions about Dusty
Is Dusty a good first axolotl?
Yes. Nothing here is beginner unfriendly, but nothing survives an uncycled tank either. The pale skin hides nothing, so a dusky patch or a swept back gill is obvious long before it is serious.
How big will Dusty get?
Dusty is 10 cm now and should finish between 18 and 25 cm. Around this size the feeding response is reliable, which is the thing that makes an animal easy to keep.
Can Dusty live with another axolotl?
Not yet. At 10 cm Dusty would come off worse against anything larger, and axolotls nip gills and limbs when mismatched.
