Ask a question about Nimbus before you buy. We answer within a business day.

Keep the substrate dark and the lighting low, and the charcoal tone stays strong. Under bright white light these animals photograph flat and washed out.

Nimbus is an axanthic black axolotl and the most relaxed animal in a tub of otherwise busy siblings. Even grey across the back with a soft gradient down the flanks, and unusually full gill fans for the size. The eyes are the dark, pupil free look typical of the morph, which is what separates an axanthic from a true melanoid at a glance.

Slow, deliberate and completely unbothered by a torch or a hand near the glass. Feeding on soft sinking pellets and chopped earthworm without any coaxing. Every animal here is eating independently before it is listed.

There is no second Nimbus. Each animal is photographed and listed once. Reaches Perth in two business days, dispatched Monday to Wednesday only. See how that compares in our guide to axolotl prices in Australia.

Questions about Nimbus

Can Nimbus be delivered to Melbourne?

Yes. Sent to Melbourne it arrives overnight, dispatched Monday to Wednesday only. Worth knowing before you order: Melbourne weather swings quickly, so a stable room rather than a warm one matters most.

Is Nimbus a good first axolotl?

Yes, with the usual caveat that the tank has to be ready first. Against pale gravel a dark animal reads as a silhouette. Dark sand and soft light bring the face back.

How big will Nimbus get?

Nimbus is 10 cm now and should finish between 18 and 25 cm. Ten centimetres is the point where an axolotl stops being fragile and starts being straightforward.
