The mottled brown is the colour the species actually is, and with it comes the constitution. These are the animals we hand to nervous first timers.

Mistah Midwife is a wild type axolotl, the natural colouring the species carries in the wild. Dark olive to grey brown body covered in fine gold speckles, with a paler belly and shimmering flecks that catch the light as the animal moves. Wild types are the hardiest of the morphs and the closest thing to the animal as it exists in Lake Xochimilco.

Robust, easy going and the morph we most often recommend to first time keepers. Eating soft sinking pellets and chopped earthworm, and holding good body condition on it. We confirm a feed before any animal is packed.
